Whenever there’s an important international day, Google’s doodle is always there with a wholesome animation in celebration. Especially when it’s International Women’s Day, we wait from year to year just to see it and this year we weren’t disappointed.

To celebrate women from all generations and all ethnicities coming together, Google dedicated its Doodle today to the fight for women’s rights. The Doodle is linked to a multilayered 3D paper mandala animation that represents the history of the celebration, as well as its significance for generations of women.

The central layer begins to depict women around the world amid labor movements during the late 1800s to 1930s. The second layer then focuses on the fight for gender equality and all the changes in status quo from the 1950s to 1980s.

The last layer represents the 1990s til modern day, showing the progress created by the women’s right movements during the past century. It pays tribute to those who stood up to reject previous cultural and gender roles as women continue to question and redefine their roles in society.

Here’s the full doodle, happy International Women’s Day everyone!
